Busts and Statues of Timisoara
About the Project
All cities, historic or not, have a rich collection of busts, statues or statuary objects representing local or national heroes. Wanting to test pure photogrammetric scanning techniques and generate 3D models with some of these heroes, we set out to do some short experiments for two of the local targets. In the attached images are the results of the experiments for the statue of Gheorghe Doja and the bust of Eugeniu de Savoya.
About the Process
The scan was carried out strictly photogrammetric by taking pictures from the ground and from the drone. The results obtained in the processing stage were very convincing, having a very high degree of fidelity to the real objects in the field.
Quantifiable Data
• Field data collection (photos and laser stations): 30 min/target
• Number of pictures: 200-400
• Processing of the data resulting from the scan (point-cloud, mesh, texture): 1 hour
