Parking reconfiguration of
"Traian Vuia" International Airport of Timisoara

About the Project
"Traian Vuia" International Airport of Timișoara is one of the most important transport and logistics centers in Romania. The investments made to the Airport in the last 5 years generated the need to completely reorganize the parking space of the objective. As a result, in order to obtain accurate and detailed information regarding the current organization of the parking (from the point of view of the composition of vehicle and pedestrian traffic in relation to existing major buildings and facilities), it was necessary to create a 2D and 3D materials of the public space outside.
About the Process
To generate the materials requested by the beneficiary, it was necessary to carry out a complete laser scan of the public parking lot. The laser scan was carried out in color format and was organized in such a way to obtain as much information as possible regarding the areas of interest - parking lots, traffic signs, buildings, street lighting fixtures, land slopes, above-ground and ground-level installations and so on. The scan was georeferenced on the ground with topometric equipment to eliminate errors generated by the large distances between land boundaries (4 ha). The final result of the project was a 2D plan in which all relevant information for the complete reorganization of the parking lot was drawn vectorially with millimetric precision.
